Soul Calibur 2 in February?

The sequel to the best fighter ever may make its System 246 debut sooner than expected.

Japanese arcade site Challenger Homepage has placed an interesting bit of info at the top of its page. Apparently, Soul Calibur 2 is set to make its debut at the AOU arcade show being held on 2/23 in Japan. The game, according to the site, will run on the System 246 board, meaning quick portability to the PS2.

As usual, this information isn't officially confirmed by Namco yet, but Challenge HP, a site linked to a series of arcades in Japan, tends to break news stories like this. We fully expect to see Soul Calibur 2 running on System 246 arcade hardware at the AOU show, and if the talented makers of the original Dreamcast port can replicate their magic, it's going to kick five miles of 3D fighting game ass.
